The Sealy Lady Tiger basketball squad finished last week with only one road contest instead of two after Boling canceled the Saturday tilt but last Friday’s trip to East Bernard ended with Sealy back in the win column by a 41-36 score to move to 4-4 overall on the season.

In their lone scrimmage of the preseason, the Lady Tiger soccer team went on the road and returned with a 3-2 win over the Splendora Wildcats Monday night. Sealy’s regular season begins after the holiday break on Jan. 5 at home against Giddings and the Lady Tigers will kick off their district slate on Jan. 22 in Hempstead. Cole McNanna

The Sealy Tiger soccer team wrapped up its preseason earlier this week on Monday night at T.J. Mills Stadium with a 2-0 loss to the Foster Falcons, who compete in Class 5A, in their second and final scrimmage.

As announced by the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Army National Guard, eight members of the Bellville football team were honored with academic all-state distinction on Dec. 10 for their work in the classroom and on the field.

Following their state semifinal appearance, the Bellville Brahmanette volleyball squad had three players honored with allstate distinction from the Texas Girls Coaches Association and had another player that will represent Bellville at the all-star game during the TGCA summer clinic.

When the Texas High School Coaches Association announced the academic all-state honorees on Dec. 10 alongside the Texas Army National Guard, the Sealy Tigers had two land on the first team and second team each, and five more earned an honorable mention in their final year of high school.

With a 36-7 drubbing by the Chicago Bears on Sunday, the Houston Texans officially fell out of playoff contention with only three games remaining in the 2020 season. While Chicago improved to 6-7 with the win, Houston fell to 4-9 overall and broke a streak of two straight seasons with 10-plus wins.
