And only one team remains. The Brazos Cougars defeated Hebbronville 42-15 to claim the area title in the Class 3A playoffs Friday night at Gregory-Portland Stadium.
All season long, Tidehaven Head Football Coach David Lucio sang the praises of the Brazos Cougars and how they would make some noise in the Class 3A playoffs. This Friday at Alvin ISD Stadium, Tidehaven will face off against Brazos for the opportunity to advance in the playoffs.
Tears starting to flow on the Sealy sideline following the conclusion of last Friday’s loss to Cuero in the area round of the playoffs. Sealy fell to Cuero 41-18 to conclude a successful season for the Tigers. Both Sealy and Bellville were eliminated from the playoffs last Friday night. Bellville fell to Madisonville 9-3. Austin County remained in the high school playoffs though as Brazos advanced and will take on Tidehaven this Friday at 2 p.m. at Alvin’s Freedom Stadium. The 2022 Sealy Tiger 8th Grade A Team captured another district championship after going undefeated for the second year in row and compiling a 9-0 record. After going 8-0 as 7th graders and moving into a new district filled with competitive athletic programs the pressure was on this undersized, but resilient squad.
Sealy takes down state-ranked Jasper for bi-district title As Sealy prepared for its bi-district playoff contest with Jasper, many football “experts” had the Bulldog rolling to an easy victory over the Tigers. They were proven wrong on a rainy, cold night in Navasota.
As Brazos set out to take on the undefeated Lexington Eagles in the bi-district round, the Cougars had to put the memories of the final game against Boling out of their minds. Early on, Lexington was brought back those memories in a bad way in jumping out to a 28-0 lead in the first half.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (TPW) approved two oyster regulation changes at its Nov. 3 meeting. These new regulations prohibit oyster harvest in Carlos Bay, Mesquite Bay and Ayres Bay (Mesquite Bay complex) and temporarily prohibit harvest in restoration areas for specific reefs in in San Antonio Bay, Galveston and Trinity Bay.
Faith Academy of Bellville recently held its 23rd Annual Golf Tournament at Brenham Country Club Golf in Brenham, Texas. We would like to extend our appreciation to the 31 teams of men and women who played this year, those that made monetary donations and volunteers that helped with the tournament.
Sealy slams La Marque 56-13 to secure playoff berth Scoring more than 50 points for the third straight game, Sealy prepped for the Class 4A playoffs with an easy 56-13 victory over La Marque to clinch the third place seed out of District 10-4A. “I was so proud of the boys and I didn’t expect the outcome to turn out as it did,” said Sealy Head Football Coach Shane Mobley.
