The Sealy Tiger track teams hosted the annual Sammy Dierschke Relays at T.J. Mills Stadium and Sealy Junior High School March 11 and came away with both team titles as well as new school records.

A pair of Lady Tiger standout performers etched their names into the record books. Freshman Taniah Coleman finished first in five different individual events (100, 200, 400, long jump, triple jump) and grabbed 50 points for her team which set a school record. Coleman won her events with times of 12.91 (100-meter dash), 26.90 (200-meter dash) and 1:03.53 (400- meter dash) and lengths of 16’ 2.5” (long jump) and 37’ 1.5” (triple jump).

Junior Breanna Brandes broke her own school record in the pole vault and extended the mark to 11’ 7” to win the event. She previously set school records at 10’ 6”, 11’ and 11’ 6”. Brandes also competed in running events and registered second in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.84 and helped the 4x400-meter relay team win the event in 4:29.56 alongside Alexis Brown, Courtney Roberts and Dejua Posada.

The Tigers compiled 203 team points which were good enough for an 18-point lead over second-place Needville. The Lady Tigers registered 234 total team points which provided a 75-point lead over second-place Needville.

Also winning their events for the Lady Tigers were Allyson Guerrero (1600- and 3200-meter runs) and Brooke Kram (discus).

Grabbing runner-up positions included Madison Manak (3200- meter run), Ella Ward (300- meter hurdles), Julia Jurecka (shot put), Ally Dickens (discus) and Emma Statham (pole vault). In addition, Hollie Brown and Posada took second and third from the 800-meter run.

For the Tigers, Daniel Medrano won the 3200-meter run, Draper Parker, Haden Wernecke and Mason Klotz swept the top three in the triple jump and Jonathan Monterroza, Thomas Clark and Callen Rabius did the same in the discus.

Xavier Olvera (1600-meter run) and Fransisco Reyes (shot put) joined Rabius (400-meter dash) and Wernecke (long jump) in recording runner-up finishes in their events.
