Virginia Augusta Folmar, lovingly known as Gussy, passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2024, at the age of 85 in Sealy, Texas. She was born on Feb. 25, 1938, in Birmingham, AL, to Cecil and Virginia (Bryan) Manasco.

Gussy was a remarkable woman who never met a stranger. She had a warm and welcoming personality, always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Gussy was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and held her membership with great pride.

One of Gussy’s favorite pastimes was playing dominos. She loved the thrill of challenging anyone who dared to face her in a game. Her competitive spirit and love for the game brought joy to those around her.

Gussy is survived by her loving spouse of 66 years, David S. Folmar, her devoted children, Stephen L. Folmar and Farrar L. Folmar, and a large and loving family. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-greatgrandchild, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Gussy was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Manasco, her mother Virginia Manasco, sister Margaret Montgomery, brother Michael Manasco, and her sons, James D. Lowe, Robert A. Folmar and Shelby C. Folmar.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her as a kind-hearted and spirited woman. Gussy’s legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Gussy’ life and honor her memory. Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. at the Knesek Brothers Funeral Chapel, located at 768 4th St. Sealy. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
