Mildred Ruth Rodeck Weige, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.

Mildred was born November 2, 1927, in Brenham, Washington County, Texas to parents Fred and Clara Tegeler Rodeck.

Mildred grew up in Brenham and Washington County’s Stone Community. She attended Stone School, one of the numerous county schools. On May 2, 1941, she was named a top student of all county schools at the joint commencement exercise held at Brenham’s Central School.

She attended Brenham High School and upon graduation, she was declared Salutatorian of the class of 1945. A member of Blinn College’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society, she received her Associate in Arts two years later.

It was at Blinn College that Mildred met Wilton D. Weige. They were married in Brenham on March 6, 1948, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where Mildred had been baptized and confirmed. After coming to Bellville in 1948, she was employed as a secretary by the H. M. Brouillette Furniture Company for six years. She also was a part of “Wilton D. Weige Accounting,” her husband’s accounting and tax preparation firm, from 1948 until its closing at the end of 1988. Since coming to Bellville, she attended and became a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

Mildred actively supported activities involving their three young daughters, Myrna, Donna, and Lorna, namely Girl Scouts, the Austin County Fair, and many school activities. Among other things she designed dancing school costumes, helped create Austin County Fair parade floats for Hotel Weige, the American Legion Auxiliary, she was a scout leader, a room mother, and PTA supporter. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than sixty years and a past member of the Ladies Golf Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton D. Weige, her parents, Fred and Clara Rodeck, and her brother-in-law, Charlie Ehrlund. Survivors include daughter, Donna Jean Weige of Austin; daughters and sons-in-law, Myrna Denise and Russell Loesch of Round Rock and Lorna Dee and Jimmie Ray Sommerfield of Brenham; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth and Michael Evan Glasscock of Round Rock and Jessica Rae and Doug English of College Station; great-granddaughter Marley Ruth Glasscock; sister, Ruby Ehrlund; nieces and nephews Kimberly Ehrlund, Mark and Amy Ehrlund, Cody Ehrlund, and Casey and Corey McFall, all of Houston.

Pallbearers will be Karl Ebert, Cody Ehrlund, Mark Ehrlund, Doug English, Michael Glasscock, and Gerald Tegeler.
