Lillie (Prokop) Jaloway was called home to heaven on November 19, 2021. She passed surrounded by loved ones praying for her journey. She lived a long, selfless life always doing all she could to make life better for all those around her.

Ludmilla Albina Prokop (Lillie) was born December 1, 1929, in East Bernard, Texas to Joe P. and Emily Prokop. She was the third born and the namesake to an older sister who passed away at an early age. She had an older brother, Henry, and a younger sister, Georgie. Her family lived in several places in her early years but eventually settled in Frydek, Texas, where she made many life-long friends. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic school in Frydek, but her education was cut short so that she could help her family work on the farm.

When she was older, Lillie worked for a short while as a live-in nanny for a family in Houston. Lillie’s real-life work and legacy, being an incredible wife and mother, began when she married Johnnie R. Jaloway on January 21, 1951. Lillie and Johnnie had ten kids in their first twenty-one years of marriage. They made the Jaloway farm outside of Sealy their forever home. Lillie worked hard as a farmer’s wife and a mother to an ever-growing brood. Life was not always easy, but through it all, Lillie always put her family before herself and trusted God to provide. Eventually, Johnnie and Lillie decided to give up farming and go to work in town, but always kept gardens and animals on their homestead.

Lillie continued to show her selfless, caregiver heart by working at Azalea Manor Nursing Home in Sealy as a nurse’s aide. Her patients became like family to her as she cared for and loved them through their final years of life. Even on her days off, she would bring her children with her to visit her patients, as well as other elderly family members in the community, and anyone else in need. She went above and beyond to instill the importance of “caring for others” in her children.

She retired from the nursing home after over 25 years, but her life didn’t get any less busy as she became blessed with grandkids. She filled her days helping with school pick-ups, attending grandkids’ events, and her favorite thing - more BABIES! Lillie loved watching her family grow. She always looked forward to Sundays when she was surrounded by those, she loved for the weekly family meal.

Lillie lived a long, extremely fruitful life leaving behind a large family, which is her greatest legacy. Her 10 children, 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild will carry on the best aspects of Lillie: her strong, steadfast faith in God; her ability to prioritize family above all other things; her servant’s heart; and her love for all things sweet.

Lillie now gets to reunite with her family that has gone before her: Her husband of seventy years, Johnnie Jaloway, her parents, Joe P. and Emily Prokop, sister Ludmilla Prokop, brother Henry Prokop, sons Daniel and Jimmy Jaloway, son-in-law Clarence Rosniak, daughter-in-law, Donna Jaloway, grandson Heath Jaloway, and brother-in-law Anton Cerny.

She is survived by daughters Joan Rosniak, Kathy Majews ki & husband Charlie, Linda Christoferson and husband Jerry, Diane Holub and husband Michael, Barbara Weatherford and husband David, Jennifer Koy and husband Cody and sons Patrick Jaloway, Benjamin Jaloway and wife Teresa, and sister Georgia Cerny. She is also survived by her 24 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all, but we are so glad that she finally has her well-deserved angel wings.

A visitation with the family was held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. with a Wake service beginning at 7 p.m. A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, interment followed the mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
