Jimmie Ayres (89), died at home in Weatherford, Texas on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 2:45 a.m., from complications of congestive heart failure.

Born Jimmie Lea Walls on January 19, 1933, at the Jameson family farm near Welch, Oklahoma to Freddie Franklin (Frank) Walls and Myrtle Bea Jameson-Walls. She grew up around Welch, Oklahoma, went to high school at Bluejacket, married Don Ayres at age sixteen, had three children and in the early 1970s moved to Texas. After a divorce in 1977, Jimmie got her GED, and accomplished so much for a single woman of her generation. Jimmie was one of the first women roustabouts in the oil and gas fields of Texas for Exxon. She lived in Sealy, Bellville, and Katy, Texas; Drumright, Elk City, Sweetwater, and Camargo, Oklahoma and then moved back to Welch after retirement from Exxon. Jimmie owned six different homes during her career moves with Exxon. Two of the homes she renovated herself, even before the house flip-restore-renovation TV shows became the trend. Everywhere she lived, Jimmie had extended family who called her “Mom” and “Grandma Jimmie.” For the past three years, Jimmie has resided with daughter Lindsey Walls in Weatherford, Texas. She loved to hunt and fish; and she loved dancing. But more than anything, Jimmie loved her family.

Jimmie is survived by daughter Lindsey Walls of Weatherford, Texas; daughter Teresa Bruce and husband Steve of Welch, Oklahoma; Teresa’s son Buckshot Wied and wife Adrienne, daughter Ashlynn and son Bo, all of Bellville, Texas; Teresa’s daughter Dezari Pierce and husband Paul, daughter Brianna Mayfield, and daughter Tabby Pierce, all residing near Welch, Oklahoma, plus son Hunter Pierce, U.S. Army, stationed in Hawaii and wife Amber; Teresa’s son Pecos Miller, wife Kelli and their son Spinner, of Leavenworth, Kansas; Teresa’s daughter Cuchara Jaggers, husband Travis, son Briar, son Carsen and daughter Mallory, all of Welch, Oklahoma; Teresa’s bonusdaughter Arin, husband Travis Jones, and their son Carter, of Bluejacket, Oklahoma; Teresa’s bonus-daughter Kacie and husband Jedidiah Sill of Jacksonville, Florida; son Donald Ayres of Vinita, Oklahoma; Donald’s daughter Cristin Bible, husband Brad, son Peyton, son Trenton, and daughter Harper Rose, of Vinita, Oklahoma; Donald’s son Cory Ayres, wife Lacey, son Tommie, and daughter Shea of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; bonusdaughter Shelly Mowery and husband Rick of Weatherford, Texas and Shelly’s daughter Sawyer Hennig and husband Chance of New Braunfels and Weatherford, Texas; nephews Terry Woolman and Eugene Woolman, Eugene’s daughters Lindsey and Jamie and son Hunter and their families, all of Vinita, Oklahoma; niece Tiffany Neill and family of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; niece Amanda Woolman and family of Vinita, Oklahoma; nephew Troy Reavis and family of Welch, Oklahoma; nephew Roger Reavis and family of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; niece Janee Millarr and family of Vinita, Oklahoma; and one lone cousin Illa Rose and husband Bob Rapp, living in the Jameson family home of Welch, Oklahoma, where Jimmie was born; extended family – Sissy and Wiley Bass of Brenham, Texas; Lois and Harold Holley of Camargo, Oklahoma, and daughters Tina and Melissa; The Robinsons of Camargo, Oklahoma; Alan and Rita Baugh, their sons Brad and Eric and their families, all of Drumright, Oklahoma; and a host of friends across the country.
