Service was held for Mr. Jesse “Wade King” on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Sealy Knights of Columbus, 1310 US-90, Sealy, Texas.

King was born on April 30, 1966, to Jesse Jay and Patsy Ann Dobbins King in Houston, Texas. Jesse was known to everyone as “Wade”, and to some he was known as “The Toy Man” or “The Steak Guy.”

Wade grew up in Colmesneil and moved to Columbus, Texas, where he graduated high school. While in school, Wade became a member of the FFA (Future Farmers of America), the marching band, and the art club, where he was featured and received awards from the Colorado County Fair.

Wade met the love of his life, Anne Michelle Kalinec (Michelle), and they married on May 3, 1997, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek, Texas. They became a blended family with two children, Joshua and Kourtney.

Wade was a supervisor at Pavestone in Katy, Texas, and later, a facility technician for Smart Pipe in Houston.

He was the founder and organizer of the “Just Killing Time” BBQ Cooking Team. The team competed in many cook-offs including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Contest and Sealybration. He cooked for steak nights at Iron Horse, The Bunker, Saddleback, and Creekmore’s Sports Bar where he would prepare a perfect steak, just the way you like it. The team also volunteered their time cooking for non-profit organizations such as Kids Unlimited, Sam Hines Benefit, and others.

Highlights of Wade’s life are placing 4th in Brisket at the 2013 HLSR World Championship BBQ Contest; spending holidays, birthdays, and everyday get-togethers with his children and grandchildren; and riding his motorcycle with his friends and his son, Josh. He also loved to visit Galveston during the Lone Star Rally with his wife and close friends. Wade was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who loved hunting, riding motorcycles, BBQing, singing Karaoke, and spending time with those he loved. His favorite songs were, “He stopped Loving Her Today,” “Mountain Music,” “I Cross My Heart,” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”

He is preceded in death by his mother Patsy Cherry, and father Jesse Jay King, Jr., sister-in-law Mary Kalinec, brother-in-law Eugene Kalinec, and father-in-law Eugene Kalinec.

He leaves his precious memories to his loving wife Michelle; one son, Joshua (Nancy) King; one daughter, Kourtney (Chris) Holland; siblings Richard Flores, Jeff King, Denise Belt, and Rhonda DeLong; three grandchildren, Samantha Corbett, Jaxson King, and Conner Holland; and nieces, nephews, and friends. Wade was the “epitome” of “larger than life” and his loss is immense and devasting to our community.

Final arrangements were conducted by Miller-Josey Mortuary, Bellville, Texas. Family and friends may sign the online register book at www.millerjosey.com.
