H.E. (Bubba) Krampitz passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2022. He was born on October 21, 1925, in Sealy, Texas to the late William R. Krampitz and Myrtle A. Krampitz.

He is preceded in death by his wife Louise, mother and father, son Douglas Krampitz, and brother Clarence Krampitz. He is survived by his three children David Krampitz and wife Sandy, Debra Kutinac, and Kevin Krampitz and wife Kay; grandchildren Phillip Krampitz and wife Jennifer, Bill Krampitz, Mark Krampitz and wife Mary Beth, Andy Krampitz and wife Erin, Amy and Lauren Kutinac, and Chandler and Colton Ehrman. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Bubba enlisted in the U.S. Navy his junior year in high school on December 7, 1942, in Houston, Texas. He went to boot camp in San Diego, California. On March 19, 1943, he set sail to the south pacific on the U.S.S. Blume Fontaine, a Dutch cargo ship converted a troop carrier, whose homeport was Amsterdam, Holland.

After a three day stop in Hawaii to pick up supplies, they continued to Fiji, New Hebrides, Solomon Islands and New Guinea. He was a photographer’s mate with the Fleet Airbase Union charged with developing reconnaissance photographs used in planning the invasions of Guadalcanal and other Japanese islands.

Following his two years in the south pacific he returned to Sealy on leave from the Navy. On October 25, 1945, he married the love of his life, Louise Cartwright, who he would spend the next 75 years with. She moved with him to San Diego where they lived until his discharge from the Navy. After returning to Sealy in 1947, Bubba joined his father in the family business, Bill’s Grocery, located at 122 Main in downtown Sealy.

Bubba was active in the Sealy community his entire life. He was one of the original group of men who organized the Little League baseball program in Sealy and a coach for his boy’s teams.

He was a founding member of the Stephen F. Austin Golf Association. He served on the Sealy School Board, the board of directors of the Citizens State Bank, and was an active member of the Sealy Church of Christ.

Two of his favorite pastimes were playing golf and spending time with his family at the farm in Waller County where he would often be seen shredding on his big red tractor.

Bubba was proud of his family from his children to his great-grandchildren. He always encouraged them to do their best. He will be remembered by many in the community as kind, soft-spoken and caring. Many will remember him as a mentor and a role model.
