Erin Elizabeth Briggs Kulhanek gained her angel wings on Sept. 2, 2023 after a fight with cancer at almost the age of 60 years old. Her parents were Frances Ann Briggs Cartesio and Harold Briggs. She was born in San Antonio.

Erin was named for her Irish background and Elizabeth after Elizabeth Taylor. While growing up in San Antonio with her three sisters; Eileen, Katherine and Mary.

They spent time playing in parks and going to games.

Climbing trees came naturally to Erin. Some special moments include watching an ice-skating show, going to the circus and riding an elephant.

Erin graduated from Thomas Edison High school in 1982. She became a radiologic technologist after completing the program at WCJC. Part of her job, which she loved, was meeting the patients and the employees at different locations.

Erin’s sons, John Moore and James Moore, were among the joys in her life.

She was there cheering at all sporting events as they grew up. She also shared her love of movies with them. Erin loved all sports that were Houston: Astros, Texans and Rockets.

Erin loved collecting dolls and Elvis statues. Erin also loved frogs and had quite a collection. She sometimes joked that she had to kiss a few frogs before she met her Prince Charming. David and Erin were united in marriage in 2004.

David and Erin were excited each time she became pregnant. God took those precious babies to heaven before they had a chance to meet them and hold them in their arms.

David and Erin enjoyed traveling when they could get away. The casinos were always a fun trip.

Taking part in different ministries at Guardian Angel Catholic Church kept David and Erin busy. David and Erin spent 10 years as bazaar co-chairmen.

Erin was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary No. 200. Each May she and David were busy collecting donations for poppies.

She also was one of the members who participated in making sandwiches and desserts for Bingo. In the past she was also an officer.

In KJZT No. 22 she and David took part in almost every project they held. They always took a lot of the care bags that were made each year because they liked to visit with the people they delivered to.

She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters No. 1538. She has held an office, served on committees and always participated in every fundraiser.

Erin loved being a member of the Ladies of the Guardian Angel. She took part in all the wonderful things they did for the parish.

Many children grew to love her as their teacher for Children Faith Formation classes at the church.

Erin was so excited when she found out she was to become a grandmother and when she found out another was on the way that even made her happier. Lucas Moore, Declan Moore, and Ethan Moore were the apples in her eye and spending time with them meant the world to her.

Erin is preceded in death by her father Harold Briggs and her dad, Pete Cartesio.

She is survived by her husband, David Kulhanek; her mother, Frances Ann Cartesio; her son’s John Moore and James Moore: grandchildren Lucas Moore, Declan Moore and Ethan Moore: her sister’s, Eileen and John Pechacek, Katherine and Peter Thomas Cartesio, Mary Garcia and David Rodriguez; step-sister, Carmela and Jimmy Haley; In-laws; Dennis and Eugenia Kulhanek, Judith and Stanley Michulka, Theresa Kulhanek, Chris and Brenda Kulhanek, Mary Kulhanek, Patrick and Elizabeth Kulhanek; Lifelong friends Janette Richards and Charlene Dapprich.

Her cat Tommy will miss her along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins plus others who loved her.

Pallbearers for the funeral service are John Pechacek, Travis Pechacek, Ryan Garcia, David Rodriguez, Chris Kulhanek, Dennis Kulhanek, Patrick Kulhanek and Matthew Kulhanek. Honorary pallbearers are Lucas Moore, Declan Moore, Ethan Moore and Stanley Michulka.

In lieu of flowers donations made be made to the Guardian Angel Catholic church.
