The holiday season has officially started as many Texans gather around the table for Thanksgiving dinner. But for the families of the 1,246 people killed last year in Texas by drunk drivers, holiday seasons will never be the same.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott celebrated new graduates joining the most elite law enforcement agency in the nation at the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Recruit Class B-2023 Graduation Ceremony in Austin. During his keynote address, the Governor congratulated the 94 graduate troopers on completing a rigorous 30-week training program and thanked them for answering the call to serve and protect their fellow Texans.

It’s that time of year Sealytonians. The annual Fantasy of Lights event is set to kick off Nov. 30.

Through the use of Hurricane Harvey relief funds, the city of Wallis was able to secure grants to purchase much needed generators. “I grew up in a small town and we all know that if you don’t have good water and good wastewater you don’t have a town,” said Texas GLO Commissioner Dawn Buckingham.

Austin County is mourning the loss of Grace Holtkamp for her contributions to the county through many organizations. Holtkamp died Friday, Nov.
