The Blinn College men’s basketball team shrugged off a slow offensive start before finding its groove en route to a 96-87 Region XIV victory over Lamar State College- Port Arthur on Saturday. The home victory at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas, pushed the Buccaneers to 14-6 overall and 8-2 in the Region XIV South Zone.

Van Vleck edged the Lady Cougaretttes 36-33 last Friday on the road to take control of fourth place in District 24-3A. Van Vleck is sitting at 3-4 in district action while Brazos is sporting a 3-5 record in district play with four games left on the schedule.

The Sealy Lady Tigers soccer squad will return to their home field this Friday to take on Needville in a non-district contest. Sealy is sporting a 5-3 mark so far this year and this will be the last game before the start of district play Feb.

The Sealy Lady Tigers split a pair of district games this past week to remain in third place in District 25-4A with a 4-2 record. Sealy defeated Needville 54-37 at home last Tuesday and then fell to Brookshire Royal 58-47 on the road in a hard-fought contest.

The Brazos Cougars moved to 5-0 in District 24-3A and remained tied with Hitchcock in the district standings after posting two big wins this week. Brazos opened the week with a 66-43 victory over Hempstead and then finished off the week with a 70-35 win over Harmony at home.

Right now, if it can go wrong for the Sealy boys’ basketball team, it will. After such a promising start to the season, the Sealy Tigers have opened district play with four straight losses and have yet to win a District 25-4A game this season.
