The Sealy Tiger baseball team used a 12-run first inning to notch a 15-2, run-rule win in five innings over Mickey Leland Prep in the bi-district round of the playoffs last Friday night at Aubrey “Mutt” Stuessel Stadium in Sealy.

Parker makes commitment

Sealy High School senior athlete Draper Parker made his commitment to play football for Missouri Southern State University Saturday afternoon. Parker collected 1,025 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns to help the Tigers win an undefeated district championship and go three rounds deep in the playoffs.

The Sealy Lady Tigers secured a 24-2 win in the bi-district round of the playoffs over Houston Wheatley through the rain last Thursday at home. Sealy will head to Montgomery High School this Friday, May 7, to face Splendora in the area round.

SURVIVE AND ADVANCE

The final crop of track and field athletes was whittled down to the tops in Texas following regional championship action across the lone star state last week. Locally, Sealy’s Breanna Brandes (pole vault) and Bellville’s Kirby Marik (high jump) earned second-place finishes at the Region III Championship at Challenger Columbia Stadium in League City last Friday and Saturday.

Tiger golf team finishes eighth

The Sealy Tiger golf team wrapped up its season at the Region III Championship at the Raven Nest Golf Club in Huntsville as the eighth-place team with a high individual finish in 17th overall. Although head coach Cody Carruthers has taken an individual golfer to regionals every year he’s been in Sealy, this year was the first time the Tigers brought a whole team thanks in part to Ethan Doyle’s first-place individual finish at the district championship in Navasota.
