China Spring shuts down Sealy 48-7

Body

The China Spring Cougars stymied the Sealy Tigers early and often and rolled to a 48-7 win in the Area Championship at Waco ISD Stadium Friday night to eliminate Sealy for the second straight season.

The Tigers served as the visitors at the neutral site and although both teams traded three-and-outs on their first drives, Tristan Exline pulled down an interception on the third play of Sealy’s second drive and Kyle Barton cashed in on the other end to open the scoring.

Sealy claims bi-district 21-19

The Sealy Tigers used two rushing touchdowns from senior Ethan Hart, a fake punt touchdown from senior Connor Krenek and multiple defensive stops in the red zone to claim their fourth Bi-District Championship in five years with a 21-19 win over the Silsbee Tigers Friday night at W. W. Thorne Stadium in Aldine.

Sealy advances to face China Spring in the Area Championship which will be played at Waco ISD Stadium next Friday, Nov. 19, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

Sealy finishes 16th at state

Body

The Sealy Tiger cross country teams both finished 16th in their respective races at the Class 4A State Championship meet Saturday morning in Round Rock. It was the first time since 1991 that any team represented Sealy at state and it was the first time since 1990 that both teams qualified for the last meet of the year.

Bellville senior Lawson Meiers also represented Austin County at the state meet as an individual qualifier for the Brahmas and finished 61st overall.

Sealy wins finale 43-0

Body

The Sealy Tigers closed the regular season with a 43-0 win over the La Marque Cougars to secure the No. 2 seed from District 12-4A-D2 behind strong performances from members of the Class of 2022.

Sealy is set to face Silsbee in the bi-district round of the playoffs next week with details still to be determined as of postgame.

Sealy shuts down Wharton

Body

After forcing a three and out to open the game, Sealy held the ball for 2:10, built a 16-point lead and never looked back to help earn a 58-7 win in the Battle of the Tigers in Wharton Friday night at Eddie Joseph Memorial Stadium.

In the penultimate District 12-4A-D2 contest, Sealy improved its record to 3-2 and Wharton fell to 0-5. With a La Marque loss to Bellville Friday night, Sealy secured a playoff berth for the second year in a row.

Sealy cross country state-bound

Body
Both Sealy cross country teams punched a ticket to the Class 4A State Championship Nov. 6 after top-four team finishes at the Region III Championship Monday afternoon in Huntsville. It will be the first time any one Tiger team competed at the state meet since 1994 and the first time both teams will represent Sealy High School since 1990.

Sealy sweeps home finale

The Sealy Lady Tiger volleyball squad earned sweeps in its final two home matches last week to improve its record within District 24-4A to 7-2 with only one match remaining this week. Sealy beat Wharton Tuesday on parent night and Navasota Friday on senior night to close its home slate of matches.

Sealy downs Sweeny 65-33

Body

Six different Sealy scorers helped amass the most amount of points scored in nearly six years en route to the Tigers’ 65-33 win over the Sweeny Bulldogs Friday night at T.J. Mills Stadium in District 12-4A-D2 action.

Sealy eclipsed 60 for the first time since consecutive district games in 2015 (67 against Wheatley Nov. 6, and 63 against Furr Oct. 30) and did so for the first time since Head Coach Shane Mobley and Offensive Coordinator Chris Carruthers took over four years ago.
