With less than a minute left to play in a tie ballgame against Wharton, Sealy senior Jacob Gajewski broke the press defense with a half-court pass to classmate Lane Holley who drove to the basket and scored a layup through contact. Holley sank his free throw with only 33.87 seconds remaining to give the host Tigers a three-point lead and all of the momentum.

Brahmanettes sweep Lady Tigers

The Sealy Lady Tiger basketball squad dropped another close game to the Bellville Brahmanettes, this one at home last Wednesday by a 53-49 final score at Sealy High School. Bellville took the teams’ first meeting on a gamewinning shot in the final seconds from Neelie Schiel and the second matchup was similarly close throughout but Lady Tiger head coach Anthony Branch said the shots didn’t fall when they needed them to.

Sealy golf tees off

The Sealy Tiger golf teams opened their season last week with a two-day tournament and followed that up with another singleday tournament earlier this week. In both contests, the boys’ team grabbed a thirdplace finish in the team competition.

Five Tigers earn all-state

Five Sealy Tiger football players were honored on the Padilla Poll Coaches 2020 All-State Team for Class 4A-D2, three on defense and two on offense: Clayton Prazak (1st team defense), Kade Killough (1st team offense), Lane Holley (2nd team defense), Tyler Hennessey (2nd team defense) and Draper Parker (2nd team offense). Sealy finished as outright district champions and earned two playoff wins for the second time in three years and head football coach Shane Mobley said the honors from both sides of the ball spoke volumes to the quality of this brand of Tiger football.
