With a young team returning after gaining valuable experience this year, the Brazos Cougarettes volleyball squad will be ready to make an even better run in the Class 3A playoffs next year. Brazos went up against a tough Anderson- Shiro team in the bi-district round in Columbus last week and dropped a hardfought three set match to the Lady Owls.

The Sealy Lady Tigers opened up their 2023 playoff journey on Monday with a resounding victory over Iowa Colony in three sets in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Sealy won 25-22, 25-8 and 25-13 to claim the bi-district title and now will head on to the area round of the playoffs.

When Sweeny took the opening kickoff of the second half and drove right down the field for a touchdown to pad their lead to 10-0, many might have thought the game was over for the Sealy Tigers. But don’t doubt this Sealy Tiger football team.

A historic season of Blinn College women’s soccer came to a close in a thrilling Region XIV Tournament semifinal tilt Sunday. The Buccaneers, playing host to ninth-ranked Navarro College at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station, went toe-to-toe with the Bulldogs through two scoreless halves and a pair of scoreless overtime periods before ultimately falling 8-7 in a penalty shootout.

The Brazos Cougars cross country team competed in the 2023 UIL Region III Cross Country Meet on Monday in Huntsville at Kate Barr Ross Park. In the 3A girls 2-mile race, the varsity girls team placed 19th with 499 points.

Competing in a tough region, the Sealy Cross Country teams fared well in advancing three harriers to the state meet Nov. 3-4 in Round Rock.

The champions of the Fall 2023 Sealy Little League are The Mighty Pickles, who captured the season title with a 5-1-2 record. The team was coached by Mike Kovar and Will Smith and players included Connor, Stone, Brody, Cayden, Austin, Jamison, Izzy, Jaxson, Michael and Ennis. In the past, when Sealy and Sweeny matched up on the football field, a big game was in store for all the fans attending. But in recent years, the Bulldogs lost a bit of their bite but with new coach Jay Seibert at the helm, Sweeny has returned to a bit of its past glory this season.

All year long, Sealy Head Football Coach Clint Finley has said that his Tigers needed to quit inflicting self-wounds to their gameplans and if that happened, a winning result would follow. Last Friday at T.J.
