The Brazos powerlifting boys team captured a second-place finish and the girls brought home a seventh-place finish from the powerlifting meet at Bay City Jan. 13.
The Faith Academy Knights basketball team played a home game against the Connection School Friday, Jan. 19, and came away with a 42-26 win. The Knights played stifling defense allowing only nine total second-half points.
The Faith Academy Lady Knights squared off Friday, Jan. 19 against Aristotle. The Lady Knights started the game strong taking a 15-5 first-quarter lead. The Lady Knights had good team defense as they finished the game strong with a score of 43-34.
Last week, 46 Sealy High School Choir kids went to compete in the Solo and Ensemble competition at Cypress Park High School. “I’m happy to congratulate our 17 State Qualifiers and our five freshmen who received a superior rating,” said Matthew Kent with the Sealy Independent School District Fine Arts Program.
With four games left in the district season, the Sealy Lady Tigers are sitting firmly in second place in District 25-4A with a 7-1 record. Sealy still has home contests with Bellville and Needville while road tilts with Navasota and Royal.
After 15 years as the Sealy Boys head soccer coach, Juan Perez felt that it was time to let a different face take over and help the team turn a new leaf. He would’ve never thought after stepping down two years ago to become the Sealy Girls soccer coordinator, that he’d be back again on the male Tigers’ side to help them out when they needed him most.
Last year can only be described as a disappointment for the Sealy varsity boys’ basketball program. The team ran out to an 11-5 start to the pre-district season and appeared ready to make some noise in District 25-4A.
