The Faith Academy Lady Knight basketball squad split their two away games last week and fell to Fayetteville 68-18 but bounced back to beat Houston Adventist 26-8. In the first game of the week last Tuesday, Faith Academy head girls basketball coach Terri Tomlinson said the team started slow but battled to the end.

Lady Tigers wrap season

The Sealy Lady Tiger basketball squad wrapped up its regular season last week with losses to Navasota at home on Tuesday and El Campo on the road on Friday and seniors Marleeza Williams, Brylie Bond, Heaven Hernandez, Megan Schaaf and Avery Oliver closed their high school basketball careers.

Sealy’s Super Bowl debut

When Super Bowl LV kicks off Sunday evening in Tampa Bay, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Ricky Seals-Jones will become the first Sealy-born NFL player to make the championship game.

According to Pro Football Reference, which has a record of Texas-born players dating back to 1920, only Eric Dickerson (Sealy High School alum) and Shane Lechler (East Bernard High School alum) were born in Sealy but neither advanced past their respective conference championships.

With less than a minute left to play in a tie ballgame against Wharton, Sealy senior Jacob Gajewski broke the press defense with a half-court pass to classmate Lane Holley who drove to the basket and scored a layup through contact. Holley sank his free throw with only 33.87 seconds remaining to give the host Tigers a three-point lead and all of the momentum.
