Sealy wins Burton Relays

The Sealy Tiger cross country teams came away with both varsity team championships from the Burton Relays last Saturday on the road. Two teams of four Tigers and Lady Tigers were constructed by head coach Anthony Branch and assistant coach Danielle Eschenburg and while the first teams finished first in the relay races, the second teams were not far behind.

STARTING ON THE RIGHT FOOT

The Sealy Tiger football team started its season on the right foot with a 43-14 win over the Brazosport Exporters Friday. Before the game, Special Olympics athletes were honored for their efforts and got to run out of the Tiger tunnel to T.J. Mills Stadium’s cheering fans, raised the American flag as the anthem was playing and sent a few representatives out to midfield for the opening coin toss. OPENER ON DECK

Coming off a home scrimmage against Columbus last week, the next time the Sealy Tiger football team hits Mark A. Chapman Field at T.J. Mills Stadium, it will be for Friday’s regular-season opener against the Brazosport Exporters at 7:30 p.m.

Tigers host Friday Night Lights

The Sealy cross country team opened the season with a host meet last Friday night and came away with the team championship in the JV girls’ and varsity boys’ divisions. The Tigers hosted two regular-season meets last year but this year’s Frio Friday Night Lights meet changed the course up a bit where the finish line was on the softball field for the runners to own their moment in the limelight.

SCRIMMAGE SEASON

After the Sealy Tiger football team traveled to Smithville last week for its first scrimmage, they were set to host Columbus Thursday for the second and final scrimmage of the preseason. Head Football Coach Shane Mobley said he was pleased with the Tigers’ efforts on the road last week.
