We watched the thunderstorm growing, building, off to the west. As we sat on our tailgates sipping coffee and wishing we could be inside at the Mule Barn counter, we just sipped and looked in awe.

The number of traffic accidents decreased in 2020, but the number of Texans killed while not wearing a seat belt increased by 16%, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. In 2020, 1,073 fatalities were attributed to not wearing seat belts, up from 926 fatalities in 2019.

From the I-10 expansion project to new businesses and industries, 10 confidential projects, in addition to the housing developments under construction, we have four new subdivisions in various stages of approval or development, and manufacturing plants opening or preparing to break ground throughout the greater Sealy area.

It is a well-known fact that we are allowed to chew out the people we care about. Most recently, this came to mind when I gave my old friend, Andrew, a serious tonguelashing.

Since elected in November 2020, I have been busy working with Council to conduct city business as efficiently and openly as possible. The Sealy News has now given me the opportunity to bring general information to its readers through this communication, and I am grateful for this column.

A few years ago my friend Kristen and I created a podcast called “The Exotic Fruit Review.” In it, we sampled exotic fruits, discussed them and interviewed people who were leading extraordinary lives. While we enjoyed having a quirky podcast, Kristen and I had to do all the scheduling, producing and editing work ourselves.

It was sure nice, Windy thought. Just sitting out here in Mamie’s yard with my dog, Ramses, and some refreshments Mamie brought out that did not include raw meat or vegetables no one could pronounce.
