Three Austin County football teams entered the UIL football playoffs last week and all three came home with bi-district trophies to place at their respective schools. Sealy recorded a 31-14 victory over state-ranked Jasper in Navasota; Brazos spotted Lexington a 28-0 lead and then rallied for a 35-28 victory; and Bellville was finally able to defeat West Orange-Stark in the playoffs with a 27-20 victory in Splendora.

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 7.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.05/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 23.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 1.9 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has risen 2.3 cents in the last week and stands at $5.34 per gallon.

The Texas Center for the Book (TCFB) has launched the 2022-2023 Letters About Literature Texas contest, a program that invites students to respond to authors about how their books or poetry have touched their lives. The contest is open to Texas students in grades 4 through 12.

On Nov. 7, the Faith Academy administration, faculty, staff and student body invited local veterans and the community to join them in recognizing and celebrating Veterans Day. Faith Academy’s Chaplain, Amy Catlett hosted this special event.
