The Happy Cousins Dance Club Jan. 13 The Happy Cousins Dance Club will be hosting its monthly public dance Jan. 13, from 7-11 p.m. The dance will be held at the American Legion Hall in Wallis located at 330 Legion Rd. The first half of 2023 started with a bit of national controversy with an incident at Lindemann’s grocery story brought attention to Austin County. But with most small towns, football remains a top priority and when Sealy’s Shane Mobley announced he was leaving the district, the town turned its attention to the hiring process which brought Clint Finley to lead the Tiger football program.

The Sealy City Council made a proclamation at their Dec. 19 regular meeting acknowledging contributions made by participants towards the Fantasy of Lights festival held Dec.

An annual holiday program allows officers to show compassion and support to their communities during a sometimes-stressful holiday season. The Sealy Police Department sponsored its Blue Santa program with Sealy Police Officer Stevie Torres once again in charge of it this year.

Members of the Austin County Regional Special Response Team executed a pair of search warrants which results in the arrests of two men on drug-related offenses. SRT executed a search and arrest warrant in Colorado County Dec.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas National Guard continue to work together to secure the border; stop the smuggling of drugs, weapons and people into Texas; and prevent, detect and interdict transnational criminal activity between ports of entry.

Brazos Independent School District recognized Brazos High School student Michelle Rodriguez at the November regular board meeting. BHS Principal Caleb McCain shared that Michelle was recognized because she constantly works hard in and out of the classroom.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott honored the service and sacrifice of Texas veterans at the Wreaths Across America wreath-laying ceremony at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin last Saturday. Held as part of the annual National Wreaths Across America Day, this is the fifth year Governor Abbott has participated in the ceremony.
