Blinn College District history instructor Dr. W Dale Weeks brings the figures from his classroom to life in his new book, “Cherokee Civil Warrior: Chief John Ross and the Struggle for Tribal Sovereignty.” Published by the University of Oklahoma Press, the book delves into the impact of the U.S. Civil War on Native Americans and specifically the Cherokee Nation.

‘Field to Fork’ revamped into two-part workshops

Due to clientele demand, the upcoming Texas Parks & Wildlife and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s educational series entitled “Field to Fork” has been rescheduled and revamped. This multi-county hunting and fishing endeavor which is being hosted by Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington Counties has been reformatted as a two- part series. Each event will focus on harvesting, field dressing, processing, and safe food handling while preparing your wild game for the table.

Master Gardeners to present series

The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners of Austin County are pleased presenting the 2023 “Lunch-NLearn” series hosted on the third Tuesday of each month from February- May and September-October. The overall series will feature topics related to horticulture with homeowners and backyard gardeners in mind. Speakers are experts in their fields and practical gardeners with great tips and information for everyone.
