Austin County 4-H competed at the District 11 Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, April 23. The contest is broken into three age divisions consisting of Juniors (grades third through fifth), Intermediates (grades sixth through eighth), and Seniors (grades ninth through twelfth). All competitors judge and place eight classes consisting of market steers, breeding heifers with EPD data, market lambs, market goats, and market hogs. Intermediate team members then presented two sets of oral reasons, and senior members presented four sets of reasons to Texas A&M University Judging Team Members, who served as the officials for the contest. Teams were comprised of the following members: Junior Team Claire Schneider, Chloe Luedke, Ethan Schumann, and Luke Schumann; Intermediate Team Jackson Vykukal, Darcy Luedke, Layne Malinowski, and Levi Malinowski; Senior Team Lexi Mikeska, Ashleigh Sherrer, and Kash Krueger; and Senior Team Brooke Diezi, Baylie Macat, and Taylor Eckelberg. Austin County 4-H teams clean swept the contest winning Champion Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Team Titles, were named the Overall County Sweepstakes Winner, and received the District 11 4-H Livestock Judging Contest Sweep- stakes Winner Traveling Trophy.
