There is no defense against the base on balls. That turned out to be a major storyline in Monday’s game three 7-2 loss as Navarro eliminated the Sealy Tigers in the area round of the playoffs.
Sealy Tiger baseball sweeps Bay City, next up Navarro Coming into its bi-district round series against Bay City, Sealy Head Baseball Coach Charles Marik believed his team was ready for a playoff run and the Tigers came out and showed they are ready with a twogame sweep of Bay City. “The boys played well,” Marik said.
It took three games, but the Brazos Cougars won their bi-district round against Onalaska to advance to the area round of the baseball playoffs. “It was a hard-fought series,” said Brazos Head Baseball Coach Christopher Bright.
The Faith Academy Track Team competed at the TAIAO State Meet on Saturday, May 6. Twenty teams were in attendance. Faith Academy is a small team of 10 kids: three juniors, two sophomores and five freshmen. They have proven all season they may be small, but they are hugein determination and confidence.
The Brazos girls track team competed in the UIL Class 3A Region III Track Meet on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29 in Waco. Individually, Sophia Vykukal placed fourth (5’2”) in the high jump earning All-Region honors. Rubi Garcia was eighth (5:49.71) in the 1600-meter run and tenth (2:35.29) in the 800-meter run.
What a difference a day makes. Last Tuesday, the Sealy Tigers were nearly no-hit by El Campo’s Brock Rod to set up a Friday night contest to determine the second seed out of District 25-4A.
Coming into the final game of the District 24-3A season, the Brazos Cougars had the opportunity to battle back for a second-place finish in the baseball district. Brazos faced off with Danbury last Friday in a contest to determine second place in the district.
This past week, three Sealy individuals competed in the 4A Region 4 golf tournament in Victoria at The Club at Colony Creek. The girls took the course on Monday and Tuesday and the Tigers were represented by Kaylie Dabney.
