LCRA awards grant for new lighting at Bellville ballparks

Bellville Little League will install new lights at its main baseball field, thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and city of Bellville. The Community Development Partnership Program grant, along with $31,950 in matching funds from the league, will enable the league to replace an outdated and unsafe lighting system with new steel poles and LED lights.

Tegeler Chevrolet has joined forces with the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball & Softball program to provide new equipment, invitations to free instructional clinics and an opportunity for community members to earn donations for their league via a test drive fundraiser.

Three Blinn coaches, one player honored

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches recently handed out four prestigious awards to members of the Blinn College men’s and women’s basketball programs. Blinn head women’s basketball coach Jeff Jenkins and assistant coach Antreanna Brooks and assistant men’s basketball coach Adam Schwartz were honored with coaching accolades while sophomore women’s basketball player Tiffany Tullis was also recognized for her achievements in 202223.

Wernecke overcomes obstacles to shine on athletic fields for Sealy With all his accolades on the football, track and baseball field of competitions, there is one play that stood out this senior season for Haden Wernecke. On the first place from scrimmage in Sealy’s 41-18 loss to Cuero, Cuero quarterback Mason Notaro ran a keeper to the left side for a nice 11-yard gain to the Gobbler 38.
