Austin County voters will return to the polls to let their voices be heard in the City of Sealy Council and Sealy ISD Board of Trustee races May 1.

The Sealy News will host election forums on Facebook Live for viewers and readers to hear directly from the candidates on hot-button topics in their campaigns. Each of the candidates will be recorded in an individual interview and once all of the candidates are interviewed, a full video will be created and shared to include everyone's answers.

The Sealy ISD school board candidates will kick things off March 17 and 18, followed by City of Sealy candidates March 24 and 25 and San Felipe/Wallis City Council candidates March 31 and April 1. Be sure to like and follow The Sealy News on Facebook to watch live.

The City of Sealy will hold a general election for city council seats place two, four and five and Sealy ISD will hold an election to fill places six and seven on May 1.

For the city council, Charles Lee Wiley will challenge current councilmember Chris Noack for his seat for place two on the council. Yvonne Johnson and Roxanna Saldana have filed to run for place four, the seat currently held by Jennifer Sullivan. Sandra Lee and Edward Zapalac have filed to run for place five, which is currently held by Larry Koy. Councilmembers in Sealy are elected to serve for three-year terms.

The early voting polling place will be the City Hall Annex, located at 405 Main St. in Sealy. The Election Day polling place will be the W. E. Hill Community Center is located at 1000 Main St. in Sealy.

On the Sealy ISD Board of Trustees, John Sodolak, Bradley Miller and Ralph Bond all filed for place six. Creed Roberts currently holds that position. Place seven incumbent Joe Mike Young is being challenged by Claribel Barrera and Tyjuana Clinton on the school board.

Early voting for the school board begins on April 19 with the last day of early voting being April 27. The election date will be held on May 1.
