Sunday, Nov. 7, the Austin County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to assist The Acadia Parish, Louisiana Sheriff’s Office with a murder investigation.

During the course of the investigation, Austin County Patrol officers and the Louisiana investigators discovered that Stephen Wayne Myers II was potentially hiding on a property located in the 8000 block of FM 529. The Austin County SRT was immediately activated and arrived on scene.

Eventually, after an exhaustive search with K-9 units and air surveillance, SRT members located Myers hiding in the brush behind a residence. Myers was booked into the Austin County jail for Felony home invasion, child endangerment and murder 2nd degree. At no time did Myers pose a danger to area residents, nor was he armed at the time of arrest.

The Austin County SRT is comprised of members from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Sealy PD and the Washington County Tactical Medical EMS.
