The Sealy Tiger youth football teams started their seasons on the right foot, all earning wins over Wharton last Saturday in Sealy.
Teams are split up by grade level, with first and second graders making up the freshman team, third and fourth on the junior varsity squad and fifth and sixth graders earning the title of varsity.
Sealy sent all three teams to the Super Bowl of the Colorado River Valley Youth Football Coalition last year, but it ended in a clean sweep for the Columbus #2 teams.
This year, with redemption on their minds, the Tigers started hot out of the gate with the junior varsity and varsity teams not allowing a point in the regular-season opener.
The freshman team started the day of football out with a hard-fought 13-12 win before the junior varsity squad got out to a 27-0 lead at halftime and cruised to a 34-0 win. Varsity notched a 32-0 victory to complete the sweep of the visiting Wharton Wolves and keep a clean record through week one.
Sealy will play host yet again next week, with rival Bellville coming to town for another Saturday of youth football at T.J. Mills Stadium with the freshman game set for 10 a.m., junior varsity at 11:30 a.m. and varsity after that at 1 p.m.
