The much-anticipated unveiling of the new Tiger Wall of Honor that will honor state champions past and future will be next Wednesday, May 29, in between T.J. Mills Stadium and Aubrey “Mutt” Stuessel Field at 6 p.m.
On top of that, the first 100 attendees of the event will receive a free hotdog for their punctuality.
Becky Mills, wife of the late T.J. Mills, mentioned in a letter to the editor last month that a sign used to be off the highway telling passersby of the athletic achievements of athletes from the town. Over the years, however, the wear and tear degraded the quality and it had since yet to be replaced.
So, she took it upon herself, with the help of Billy Norris, and went before the Sealy ISD Board of Trustees and made sure their donor-funded sign would have an acceptable home on SISD property. From there, they got in touch with local professionals like Clint Bollinger and Stephen Cryan who helped get the project off the ground. Now, it will be ready to be seen by the public at the unveiling ceremony in between the football and baseball stadiums Wednesday night.
“The individuals will each have a plaque recognizing their accomplishment and the date,” Mills noted of the sign in her letter. “All the original donors will be honored with a leveled plaque. Also, we will honor two legends, T.J. Mills and Eric Dickerson. Flying with the memorial wall will be the Texas flag, the U.S. flag, and the Gold Dot flag.”
Donations for continued maintenance of the Tiger Wall of Honor can be made to Sealy ISD, 939 Tiger Lane, Sealy, TX 77474.
