The Sealy Tigers varsity boys basketball team opened play on the road Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Sweeny with a 42-35 win, then traveled to Lexington for their first tournament play but results have not been released at this time.
The Tigers led Sweeny in the first three periods of play 10-8, 8-5, 17-8, then dropped the fourth period 14-7, for a final score of 42-35.
High-point scorer against Sweeny was Derik Dabney who went 2 for 4 on free throws and mounted 14 total points for the Tigers. Tajh Green went 3 for 5 in free throws and totaled 11 points. Jason Mackey went 3 for 7 on free throws and seven points. Tyler Fuller went 2 for 2 on free throws and had four points. Christian Browning added four points and Clayton Fritsch two points.
Next up for the Tigers is Needville on Tuesday, Dec. 8, then continue tournament play in Sweeny Dec. 10-12, and come back home to host Gonzales Dec. 15.
