Tiger tennis falls to Needville

It was a tale of two squads during Sealy’s team tennis match in Needville last week, with a majority of the male athletes winning their matches and the female athletes ending on the short side of things.

Austin Keeton, Eric Wilson, Carlos Godoy, J.T. Rassette and Hayden Havel all won their singles’ matchups, making Jonah DeLozier the only boy starter on the losing side of his match. Dillon Dornak and Nik Young played extra singles’ matchups not counting toward the overall score where Dornak won, 6-0, and Young lost, 6-1.

On the girls’ side, all of the Lady Jays walked away victorious, pushing the team score to 7-5 in favor of the hosts heading to the doubles’ contests.

Again, on the boys’ slate, all three pairings won while the female pairs all dropped their matches. DeLozier/Keeton, Rassette/Godoy and Cameron and Daniel Eschenburg all secured wins to take an 8-7 lead in the team score heading to the girls’ doubles contests.

Macey Feland/Rebecca Kins, Abigail Zientek/Shreya Jariwala and Morgan Smith/Courtney Robertson came up just short to allow Needville an advantage before the mixed doubles match closed things out where Alexis Horelica/Norman Juarez fell by an 8-0 decision to round the final score out to 11-8 in favor of the Blue Jays.

The Tigers hit the tennis court again this Thursday with a matchup with the Stafford Spartans scheduled for after school in Sealy.
