Thomas Henry Brune


Funeral services for Thomas Henry Brune, age 84, of Sealy, Texas, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Knesek Bros. Highway 36 Chapel, Sealy, Texas 77474 with the Rev. Rusty Griffin officiating.

Interment was at the Haven of Rest Mausoleum at the Sealy Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Mark Carter, Wayne Jackson, Nick Ehlert, Greg Parson, Randy Hinze and his twin brother Harry Brune.

Thomas Henry Brune left this earth on Wednesday, June 7 with his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, at his side while watching his beloved Texas Rangers. He and his twin brother, Harry Leo were born on Dec. 12, 1932, in Ramsey, Colorado County, Texas to Max Henry and Louise Ladewig Brune. He was baptized in Eagle Lake, Texas on Feb. 3, 1939. He lived his entire life in Colorado County and Austin County and spent many years working the rice fields on the Taylor and Beckendorff farms.

On Dec. 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Lee Lux at the First United Methodist Church in Sealy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers, and sisters and his parent’s in-laws, Leo and Rosalie Lux.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy and twin brother Harry Brune; his children Michael and wife Amanda; daughter Kathy and husband Mark Carter, son David and wife Wendy; three granddaughters Kristin and husband Wayne Jackson, Jr., Shannon and husband Greg Parson, Shelby and husband Nick Ehlert and by his most treasured great-grandchildren Audrey Hanna and Lillie Anne Jackson, Skylar Grace and Peyton Alan Parson and Micah Elaine and Charlie Mae Ehlert. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Carolyn Lux Tipp and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care he was given by Dr. DeLeon, M.D. Anderson, Dr. Chris Holsinger, the nursing staff at Methodist West Hospital in Katy and the staff at Colonial Belle Nursing Center. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
