Teacher of the Month: Jane Hoskins

Sealy High School Student Council would like to recognize Ms. Jane Hoskins as the March Teacher of the Month.  Hoskins has been in education for 23 years, 8 of those at Sealy High School where she teaches Pre-Calculus.

During her teaching career she has been named Teacher of the Year at both Katy High School and Morton Ranch High School. She also lists as an accomplishment the fact that she keeps in touch with many of her ex students as they grow up, get married, and have kids. “I love the people they become,” Hoskins said. She concluded with, “I also love making math not so scary for them, and having them enjoy the higher math processes.”

Her favorite aspects of teaching include, “Working the kids through tough problems and seeing them ‘get’ it.” Hoskins said her student do a lot of real world math “so they can understand it and hopefully remember it when they go to college.”

Some of the comments made by students who voted for her include: “Her intelligence and wittiness are infectious” and “[She] always has a smile on [her] face no matter what happens, and I can relate.”

Congratulations Ms. Hoskins!
