Each month, Sealy High School Student Council identifies a teacher of the month. Jamie Hofford has been recognized as the February Teacher of the Month.
Hofford has taught in Sealy for five years and has been in education for 16 years. She teaches Pre-AP English I and English II.
When asked about her favorite aspect of her job, Hofford said, “Working and interacting with students. They keep my young in spirit!" She also said that the students provide her with a fresh perspective on life and that they "renew [her] faith in the goodness of human beings."
As for her accomplishments, Hofford said she is "super proud" of her students who have done "increasingly well" on the state test year after year. "More and more of them are passing, and many are reaching 'Level 3: Advanced' and that is a testament to their hard work in the classroom," she said. "They sincerely want to show how intelligent they are, and they want to make Sealy proud ... and I'm proud to be a part of that."
On the nominating ballots, some of the comments made by students included: “She talks in a very funny and compassionate way,” and “Because she's an awesome teacher and teaches in a really good way, and she helps me; not being from here (United States) she helped me," and "She loves to interact with everybody and loves to make things fun!"
Congratulations Mrs. Hofford on being named the February Teacher of the Month at Sealy High School!
