Sealy American Legion Post 442 had a special ceremony May 2, as post members raised and lowered the American Flag in honor of Marvin Spradley and Jesse Hearn.
Marvin Spradley passed away Dec. 20, 2015 and Jesse Hearn passed on Feb. 16, 2017.
Two of the flagpoles at the post were erected in their honor because of memorial donations set up by the families of the men.
Spradley and Hearn made it possible for the Legion to operate as a Red Cross Emergency Center and offer free medical equipment to those in need which served veterans in the area.
Paul Dronka thanked everyone for attending the ceremony
“We had two hard workers pass, Jesse Hearn and Marvin Spradley,” he said.
The event took about 18 months to bring together.
“These poles are just as straight as they were,” he said. “They were outstanding men, so it is in remembrance of them that we are doing this today.”
