Fans of the NBC show “The Voice” remember 2015 contestant Barrett Baber, who charmed fans as a member of Team Blake Shelton and placed third, behind Jordan Smith and Emily Ann Roberts.
The country crooner auditioned with the song “Angel Eyes” by Jeff Healey and caught the attention of all four judges. He went on to sing tunes by Zac Brown Band, Marc Cohn, Conway Twitty, Thomas Rhett and Glen Campbell. During his time on the show, Baber spoke at length during video testimonials about being a survivor of American Airlines Flight 1420, which crashed in Little Rock in 1999 and took the lives of the captain and 10 passengers.
The singer now lives in Franklin, Tenn., and recently released an album titled “A Room Full of Fighters.” Coca Cola and Walmart are sponsoring his CD release tour, which kicked off in Sealy on Oct. 6.
Baber stood outside the Sealy Walmart for a little over an hour, greeting employees and shoppers and distributing “free hugs.”
“I’m really blessed,” he said, as he paused to snap selfies with fans.
