SHS grabs gold, silver medals at UIL art event


Sealy High School art students recently traveled to Bryan, Texas, to participate in the University Interscholastic League Region 6 Visual Arts Scholastic Event. These students spent months on their artworks. The competition consisted of five short answer questions for each artwork and a one-on-one interview with an art professor that all determined their scoring. Region 6 had approximately 3,500 entries and only awarded 200 Gold medals, and only 15 students were selected for State.

Sealy had 25 entries and the young artists took home 20 Gold medals, five Silver, and 1 very coveted State spot. The results were as follows: Chase Burkland - Gold & Gold medals, State Qualifier; Bryanna Aguado - Silver Medal; Mabel Arteaga - Gold & Gold Medals, Ariana Avilez -Gold medal; Danielle Bersche -Silver Medal; Rebecca Brobston - Gold Medal; Alexia Henley - Gold medal; Angelica Hernandez - Gold & Gold medals; Tiffany Krause - Gold & Silver medals; Elizabeth Ramirez Mora - Gold & Silver medals; Khondker Salim - Gold & Silver medals; Rio Smith - Gold & Gold medals; Jami Trevino - Gold & Silver medals; Ariel Uribe - Gold & Silver medals and Summer Williams-Gold & Gold medals.
