The Sealy Police Department has issued the following statement regarding their response to calls during the coronavirus pandemic:
As always, the Sealy PD will continue to offer the highest level of service to our residents, to include proactive patrolling. We will remain vigilant and shall not be deterred from our mission. The health, safety and wellbeing of our citizens will remain our #1 priority. But during these times of uncertainty we are forced to take preventive steps to ensure the safety of the public and our staff. Starting immediately, we will limit our contact with the public to that which is immediately necessary. Officers are being told not to enter private residences or businesses and officers will be encouraged to conduct as much business as possible outside in fresh air. We are enacting an Alternative Response to Non-Emergency Request for Service. In short, all non-critical calls for service will be handled by phone verses dispatching an officer. The Police Department lobby will be closed and should you need any police service, contact 911 for emergencies or 979-885-2913 for non-emergency calls. This procedure falls in line with what many other law enforcement agencies have been doing for many years. Our new procedures is more temporary in nature and will remain responsive to change with COVID-19 situation.
