Richard Allen Littlefield, age 65, of New Ulm, Texas, passed away on Oct. 11, 2019. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Nov. 18, 1953. He was raised in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. He met Julianne Smith in Lafayette, La. and they married in Sugar Land, Texas, in 1973. They moved to Sealy, Texas, in 1980 where they raised their two children, Rachel and Rickie. He worked for Shell Research and Development for 30 years and retired in 2017. He and Julie purchased land and built a home in New Ulm prior to his retirement, he liked to call it, “his little piece of Texas.” He was an avid outdoorsman well known for tall fishing and hunting tales. His greatest joy in life was cooking, entertaining and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julie, his daughter Rachel (Kevin) LaRue, his sister Deborah (R.C.) Waits and his brother, Mike (Marcy) Barber. He is also survived by five grandchildren Dwight Littlefield, Charlotte Littlefield, Hayden LaRue, Reagan LaRue and Rylan LaRue. A niece, nephew, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends also survive him.
He is preceded in death by his son, Richard Charles Littlefield, his parents Charles C. and Peggy Littlefield Jr., his grandparents Columbus and Effie Littlefield, and Dannie and Ruby Hoad.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Knesek Bros. Hwy 36 Funeral Chapel located at 1140 Meyer St., Sealy. Interment to follow the service at New Ulm Cemetery located on FM 109 2 Shunka Road in New Ulm. Funeral arrangements are under the directions of Knesek Bros.
