The Rotary Club of Sealy meets every Tuesday at noon at Gallo Mexican Restaurant, its new location.

Austin County GOP meeting

Austin County GOP invites Sealy and Bellville students and parents to discuss forming Republican Clubs at Sealy and Bellville high schools at our monthly meeting Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 7 p.m. at Tony’s Family Restaurant in Sealy. We have invited Sealy ISD Superintendent Sheryl Moore to attend. Meeting is open to all. Dutch treat meal is available from the menu.

Texas Exes celebrate Independence Day

On Thursday, March 2, Texas Independence Day, all Longhorns and friends are invited to join the Austin County chapter of the Texas Exes in a celebration of fellowship and scholarship. First Annual El Roi Conference

The Austin County Coalition for separated children presents: the First Annual El Roi Conference from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. March 4 at Bellville United Methodist Church, 234 S. Masonic St., in Bellville. The conference provides learning opportunities about foster care, adoption, court appointed special advocates and how to become one, providing respite or other support to foster families, connecting with families in your community, and list of other helpful solutions. Sealy Dance Club

The Sealy Dance Club will have a dance on Saturday, March 4, at the Sealy American Legion Hall with the Lost Cause band providing the music from 7:30 p.m.-11 p.m. Guests are welcome.

Turkey dinner

The Sealy Catholic Daughters’ Turkey Dinner has been moved to 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017. At the Sealy KC Hall. Dine in or take out. Homemade desserts will be available. There will also be a Junior Catholic Daughters silent auction, live cake auction and big prize drawing at 1 p.m.

Food Bank Produce Truck

The Houston Food Bank Produce Truck will be in Sealy at KC Hall, 1310 Hwy 90 W, Tuesday, March 7, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon. The produce is free to anyone living in Austin County. There will also be someone from the Houston Food Bank to assist anyone that needs help with applying or renewing SNAP (food stamps) or children’s Medicaid/CHIP.

Hermann Sons Life meeting

Hermann Sons Life - Cat Spring will meet Thursday, March 9 at the agricultural hall meeting room at 6:30 p.m. A soup supper will be provided, and members are asked to bring sandwiches or desserts.

Cemetery Meeting

El Pleasant Cemetery of Wallis has scheduled a meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18 at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church on 1415 Willow Road in Wallis. All with family buried at the cemetery are welcome to participate.

Sealy Playtime

Sealy Playtime is being offered for Sealy and area “seasoned” adults every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hill Community Center in Sealy. There are games including dominos, checkers, Scrabble, Clue and many board games. There’s also free coffee, iced tea, hot tea, hot chocolate or bottled water. There is no charge to Sealy residents ages 62 and older, however, donations are encouraged and appreciated. For more information, call Frank Lemanski at 979-398-4131.

Community Bible Study

Community Bible Study is held at the Bellville United Methodist Church, 234 South Masonic, Room 204, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday until April. Classes cover an exciting study titled, “Red Sea to the Jordan River” from the books of Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers. There’s also a program for children from nursery through high school. New Beginnings Support Group

Today’s Word Ministries is starting a nondenominational Bible study at Tony’s Family Restaurant in Sealy. Free boot-camp and Zumba classes

USMC meets the second Saturday each month at 6 p.m. The February meeting will be at the American Legion kitchen.

Family Land Heritage Program

Applications for the 2017 Family Land Heritage Program are due to the Texas Department of Agriculture by May 1, 2017. Applications are being accepted for farms and ranches established in 1917 and earlier that are still owned and operated by the descendants of the founder. Updated property tax information available

The Austin County Appraisal District has updated property tax information available to assist taxpayers. Has information for select groups, such as disabled veterans and persons who are who are age 65 or older. For more information about these programs, contact the Austin County Appraisal District at 906 E. Amelia St., Bellville, Texas or at 979-865-9124.
