Meals on Wheels in need of building donations

Helping One Another-Meals on Wheels, currently located at 510 2nd St. in Sealy, is relocating its headquarters to 915 Frydek Road, where a new building is under development. A new building gives the organization the opportunity to expand their services to seniors in Austin County, but they still need additional assistance from residents.

“To help us complete the building we are asking for support from all communities in Austin County,” reads a statement from the organization.

While the building is in Sealy, HOA-Meals on Wheels provides service to seniors across the county in Sealy, San Felipe, Bellville, Wallis, New Ulm and Bleiblerville. Five days per week, volunteers make deliveries to more than 100 seniors.

HOA-Meals on Wheels is in need of donations. All donations are tax deductible since it is a non-profit 501 c (3) organization.

A little more than $100,000 has gone into the project out of the organization’s funds. Building and construction costs total just under $400,000, so the organization will be short about $140,000 after project completion.

The organization is also looking for support through businesses, trusts, foundations, grants and civic organizations.
