An Austin County man is in critical condition after he was hit by a train Monday evening in Sealy.
According to police, Steven Royer, 51, was attempting to cross the railroad tracks at Second and Front streets and was struck by a northbound BNSF railroad train. Royer was treated on the scene by Austin County EMS and Life Flighted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries and is listed in critical condition.
The first notice sent to the public on Monday was a post at 8:33 p.m. on the Sealy Police Department’s Facebook page which read, “Traffic alert: All railroad crossing running north and south in Sealy will be closed for an undetermined amount of time. Please plan your travels through town accordingly.”
As of Tuesday morning there were no closings at railroad crossings in Sealy.
