Luis Alberto Mata, Jr.
Luis Alberto Mata, Jr. was born October 2, 1993 in Monterrey, Mexico. He is survived by parents Luis and Mireya Mata, sister Ingrid and brother Carlos. He also leaves behind his grandmother Esthela and many uncles, aunts and cousins. And one very special and loyal companion that must be mentioned is his dog, Rex. Luis will also be missed by many friends in the Sealy and the Houston area.
Luis graduated from Sealy High School in 2012. He played football for the Sealy Tigers during his junior high years. While he was a senior in high school, Luis, his cousin Max and his Uncle Ricardo started training with the Cat Spring Volunteer Fire Department. Shortly after he graduated, Luis joined the department. His passion was being a firefighter. After joining the department, Luis quickly earned the respect of the department with his hard work and dedication. He never hesitated to do what was asked and never missed an opportunity to learn and train. Many times, the department would find their trucks washed and shined only to find out that Luis had spent his nights at the station making sure the trucks always looked good.
As family and friends share stories about Luis, one thing that will always be mentioned is his laughter. That laugh and that smile will forever remain in our hearts. To Luis-a good son, a protective older brother, a loving cousin, a loyal friend, a true firefighter.
