Lillie Mae Gerhart-Remmert

It has pleased our Almighty God, in accordance with His merciful and divine providence, on the morning of August 9, 2016 to summon to Himself out of this vale of tears the soul of Lillie Mae Gerhart-Remmert, our beloved “Nana”.

Lillie Mae was born on February 26, 1919 to Joe and Annie (Faist) Gerhart in Houston, Texas. She was brought to the waters of Holy Baptism at a young age in Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a long time, active member of the Ladies’ Aid. She served her Lord faithfully at Trinity Lutheran Church up until when she moved to Brenham and transferred to Grace Lutheran Church. Lillie Mae was a living example of what God calls His children to be as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

On February 26, 1939, Lillie Mae was united in holy matrimony with her true, once-in-a-lifetime love, Mr. Gerhardt “Jelly” A. Remmert by Pastor William Schreiner. The Lord blessed their union with the gift of two children; daughter Diane Faye Remmert-Faske and son, Alan Neal Remmert. They enjoyed 71 years of marriage until he departed this earthly life in 2010. By means of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are confident that “Nana” enjoys the peace of eternal life in Heaven with those who have gone before her.

Lillie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, “Jelly” Gerhardt A. Remmert; her son, Alan Remmert; her parents, Joe and Annie Gerhart; her mother and father-in-law William and Clara Remmert; brother, J.P. Gerhart; sister, Evelyn Remmert; brothers and sister-in-law, Otto, Alphonse, LouVena Remmert.

Surviving and mourning her loss are her daughter, Diane and husband Herbert Faske; daughter-in-law, Sondra Remmert-Schubert; grandchildren, Dr. Robin Baird and husband Dr. Brian Baird, Jay Faske and wife Suzanne, Drake Faske and wife Nicole, and Renee Einkauf; many great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Edwin “Buster” Remmert and wife Estelle; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gerhart; and several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to all the many caregivers who touched her life at Dr. Loesch’s office, Hospice Brazos Valley, Kruse Village’s La Roche Manor, and her special friends at “The Golden Girls” table.

“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth,” says the Spirit. For they shall rest from their labors and their works do follow them.

A visitation will be held at Knesek Bros. Fourth St. Chapel, 768 Fourth St., Sealy, TX 77474, on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 W. Jefferson, Brenham, TX 77833 on Thursday, August 11th, 2016 at 10:00 am. A burial will follow at Sealy Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
