Leona Ann Buchala began her journey through time on Jan. 4, 1944, in Sealy, Texas. She was the first born daughter of Joe and Josephine Stavinoha. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School and Sealy High School in 1962. On Oct. 21, 1967, she married Clem Buchala in ceremony at Immaculate Conception Church and, through this union, their daughter, Nancy, and son, John, were born.

Leona was a very creative person with a love of flowers that she applied to business that she named Leona's Flowers And Crafts in downtown Sealy in the 1980s. Later, she was a caretaker of the elderly. She was very devoted to her family and an excellent kolache baker. Her tremendous faith in God was an inspiration to all who knew her as it helped her press through many setbacks in her life without a complaint. The most difficult of which was the loss of her daughter Nancy 10 days short of her 16th birthday in 1985.

Leona was a member of St. Mary's Church in Frydek where she served as director of religious education for many years and taught many of the classes. Always willing to do her part, she worked at the church picnics and recently was in charge of religious articles sales.

She truly ran the good race and fought the good fight, and is now enjoying the special rewards designed for her in eternity past. Leona entered the eternal state on Sept. 12, 2016, with a special dying grace blessing goodbye for her family. She will be missed!

Leona is preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Buchala; parents, Joe and Josephine Stavinoha; brother, Joe Stavinoha, Jr.; nephew, Joseph Stavinoha III; brothers-in-law, Joe Hughes, Timothy Buchala and George Litvik; father and mother-in-law, William and Victoria Buchala.
