Lawrence John Sliva, 71, was born Nov. 20, 1945, in Sealy, Texas, to John William Sliva and Elizabeth Martha Jalowy. Lawrence fought a long and hard battle, and died on Nov. 6, 2017 at 7:23 a.m. in Sugar Land, Texas at Kindred Hospital. He lived a full life and was surrounded by people who loved him so much.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Kay) Sliva of 52 years, brother John Sliva and wife Patsy Sliva, daughter Penny Watson and her husband Bobby, son Wesley Sliva, daughter Kelly Sliva, daughter Pam Sandoval and her husband Chris, his grandchildren Haley Watson and fiancée Eli Fisher, Colleen Watson and her fiancée Dillan Dostal, Chase Watson, Austin Sliva-Wynne, Shea Sliva-Wynne, Autumn Sandoval, Hunter Sandoval, Skye Solesbee, and great grandson Liam Fisher along with numerous cousins , in-laws and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John William Sliva, Elizabeth Martha Jalowy, and Louis Sliva, his brother Oscar Jalowy, and sister Lilian Krueger.

Lawrence, otherwise known as Papu, loved his grandchildren and loved supporting them in each sport they played. His favorite hobby was scratching lottery tickets. Many convenience stores knew him by name because he was the lottery king. He enjoyed taking care of his truck, working his tractor, riding his mule, fishing, hunting, dancing, playing cards and dominos, attending Monster Jam shows, watching the Dallas Cowboys, gardening, making sausage and so much more.

Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg with Father William D. Bartniski officiating. Burial followed at Morton Cemetery in Richmond.
