Heading into their last match of the season, the Sealy Tigers volleyball team have split their previous two matches against Bellville and Columbus.

The loss came against the Bellville Brahmas on Oct. 17 in which the Tigers fell in three sets. The first two sets were lost with scores of 15-25 and 16-25. The third set was closer as the Lady Tigers as they fought to extend the match but ultimately fell in that set as well 23-25.

Senior Madison Luther was the star of the match despite the loss leading the team in kills with nine and aces with six. She also finished the match second on the team in assists with two. The loss dropped the Lady Tigers’ record to 23-11 on the season.

The team’s next match was on the road against Columbus on Oct. 20. Luckily, the team accomplished the rebound win they were looking for as they topped the Cardinals in three sets.

The sweep put their record at 24-11 heading into the last match of the season. Luther again shined for the Lady Tigers as she finished the match with 14 kills, two blocks and 11 digs, leading the team in all categories. She also finished second on the team with two blocks.

The team heads into the last match of the season at home against the Stafford Spartans on Oct. 24. It will be senior night for all the Lady Tigers who are enjoying their last regular season match of their high school careers. The match will be played at 5 p.m. at Sealy High School.
