The Faith Academy Lady Knight volleyball squad took down Founders Christian School twice in a doubleheader last Tuesday at Beth Keaton Gymnasium in Bellville and moved to 6-0 in district play.
A Pink Out silent auction also went on during the matches and the proceeds will go to a Faith Academy-related individual who is undergoing cancer treatment, head coach Deborah Boudoin said.
The head coach was also pleased with the effort put forth on the court where the visitors scored only 16 points in the first match and 13 in the second.
“Avery Faircloth led the gym in prayer to start the game. The Lady Knights were focused and played at a high level throughout the match,” Boudoin said. “Everyone played and received some valuable court time. Ally Sieja has made strides with her net play, while Skyler Pyka, Josey Potter and Kennedy Thumann made some good passes from the back court.”
Boudoin said the lone senior for Faith Academy, Tyler Johnston, was the player of the week for her leadership. Over the doubleheader, Johnston recorded seven kills, 17 assists and 38 total aces between a 21-ace performance in the first match followed by 17 aces in the second match.
Chesney Johnston compiled nine kills, 12 assists and seven aces over the two matches, Ella Polston registered seven kills, six aces and a dig, Ary Castillo added nine digs and five aces, Reagan Shepherd totaled five kills and a pair of aces and Addi Riley contributed three kills and one ace. In the first sweep, Alyza Marcotte had an assist and Sieja recorded a kill.
The Lady Knights hosted Central Texas Christian School earlier this week for a non-district tilt before resuming play within District 10-1A against Conroe Lifestyle on Thursday, also at home.
