In their first action away from their home field, the Faith Academy Knights took on the Conroe Covenant Cougars and fell on the short side of a 54-0 decision.
Roy Shepherd paced the visitors’ offensive attack with five rushing attempts for 39 yards while his brother Kaleb hauled in a pair of receptions for eight yards. Nathan Figueroa added a reception for 13 yards himself, but it was not enough to bring Faith Academy back from the 30-0 deficit following the first quarter of play.
Three more scores, with the accompanying successful two-point conversions, rounded out the score to 54-0 at halftime, signaling a mercy-rule ending.
The Knights will look to bounce back this week as they return home to do battle with the Sanchez Charter Eagles, who own a similar 0-2 record to start the year, at 7 p.m. on SAB Field in Bellville.
